THIS IS NOT AN APRIL FOOL
But it felt right to put out a Loki newsletter on that date. It’s what he’d want.
Greetings, mortals!
It’s been a busy few months of editing book six with the odd break for an event. I had a lovely time at Oxford Literary festival, where the kids had astounding questions, including, “Can Loki clone himself multiple times over as part of his shapeshifting powers” and “Why is Loki so handsome?” Another day I spoke at the National Literacy Trust Primary conference, and it was a truly joyful experience: a room full of people focussed on reading, with a heavy comics-mad contingent.

Speaking of the National Literacy Trust, I’m pleased to announce I’ve been selected as an Ambassador for the National Year of Reading. What does that mean? It means I will be yelling at everyone for the rest of the year about the innate value of comics, funny books, magazines, audiobooks and more. I won’t say “reading is reading” because that’s like saying “love is love” to queer people. Reading comics is GOOD. Reading audiobooks? AMAZING. Funny books are ART.
And because Loki is basically this old tweet…

… he had to get in on the action. Ambassadorship is not enough for him. So he gave himself a broader role.

Do those covers look new to you? More on that below…
REBELLIOUS READERS’ CLUB
On a less megalomaniacal note, Walker and I are launching the Rebellious Readers’ Club, sharing Loki-style reading tips and challenges. First 100 schools to sign up will get a physical pack, but the downloadable version will be available to everyone, from teachers and homeschoolers to parents and anyone on the internet who wants to have Loki set them reading challenges. Go here to sign up to be in with a chance of winning one of the physical packs (schools only).
And, because Loki is a gracious god, who gives back to his worshippers, we are launching new editions of the whole series so far that are packed with extra bonus content, from a short story told (badly) by Thor to insult and prophecy generators, interviews with norse myth expert Carolyne Larrington and more! I got to draw new covers too. I’m particularly proud of the Loki-reclining-on-the-title of Book 5. That was HARD to draw.
Aren’t they pretty?

To launch those bonus-packed editions, I’ll be performing at Cambridge Literary festival - book your tickets to get early access to the new editions! There may even be an insult generator to play with. Book here:
That’s all for now!
Yours rebelliously,
